EDGEtv’s Staff Writer and Social Media Manager, Jeff McElroy, is also an award-winning author.  His surf-noir short story collection, Californios, won 1st Place in the 2014 Independent Publisher Awards (IPPYs) for Best West Coast Fiction.  He released Californios 2 in 2016.

His surf fiction has found a dedicated readership around the world, including names like Dan Malloy, Jeff Johnson, Daniel Duane, Mark Cunningham, David Pu’u, and David Rensin.

McElroy takes his readers beyond the waves and into the honest heart of surf culture.  Sometimes what he finds is pretty (a perfect wave, an unlikely friendship).  Sometimes he finds the murkier waters of surf culture (drug addiction, violence).  But his prose is always engaging and, at times, poetic.

Imagine Steinbeck with a surfboard.

The collected short stories will start to overlap and blend in your imagination, creating a tapestry of California’s Central Coast with its wave-rich shores, sun-burnt fields, mossy oaks, ghettos, boardwalks, fogs, and sunsets.  You’ll want to load up the truck with surfboard, beer, and firewood and go a-yonderin’.

Californios and Californios 2 are available on Amazon.  Click here to read a sample.  Then go surf.
