Where are you from? Where do you live now?
I’m from Santa Cruz Ca I live in SoCal now in Manhattan beach
What do you have for breakfast in the morning?
I’ll make some coffee with MCT oil and grass fed butter then eggs with avo and a breakfast bowl which consists of oat bran, almond butter, chia, hemp seeds, raisins blueberries and raspberries
What one or two things do you currently do in your training that are keys to your success?
Consistency. It’s never just one or two things rather a healthy compilation of the correct movements of mobility work, high intensity cardio, plyometrics, fast twitch, sprints and some resistance training. I work with Nick Curson at Speed of Sport. Check him out. We train to stay ready so we don’t need to get ready.
If someone wanted to start learning your craft, how do you recommend they get started? Resources?
Learn to swim well. Next I’d recommend seeking out a few local surf lessons on a larger soft top surfboard. The larger the board the more stable which translates to more fun and a higher rate of really learning to catch waves and stand up.
What events do you attend (concerts, sporting events, festivals, charity and volunteer, etc.)?
I compete on the WSL Big Wave Tour witch is international so those events capture all of my focus at the moment. You can watch all of them live at WSL.com or download the free app!
