At EDGEtv, we believe in making your mark with a minimal footprint. No need to build a hotel with your name on it or carve your initials into a tree. Nope, our contributors make their marks by documenting their sustainable adventures in the great outdoors. Mama nature provide the waves, the water, the snow and we are grateful to be able to dance with her grace. Carving an S-turn on a wave or mountain is a mark that will gently fade away…but the mark lives in your memory for the rest of your life.
Two hurricanes and another low pressure system combined off of Mexico last month to create the “perfect storm.” Big wave surfers packed their boards and headed to the “Mexican Pipeline” at Puerto Escondido for some sand-bottom carnage. Maui local, Kai Lenny, snagged the cleanest barrel of the WSL Big Wave Contest and took first place.
An ocean and a continent away, Filipe Toledo made surfing history at the J-Bay Open in South Africa. On his winning wave, he completed two MONSTER 360 airs and followed them up with Slater-esque turns and a floater. This ride has set the bar much higher for what to expect in surf competitions. Congrats to Filipe for making his mark!
So Mammoth Mountain just finished up the ski season on…wait for it…August 6th!!!! EDGEtv Contributor, Melissa Marquardt, made her way up in July for what she called, “Summertime Upside Down.”
