“Create your own magic.”

Where are you from? Where do you live now?

I am originally from Danbury, CT. I currently live in Austin, TX where I work as a movement instructor and circus artist. I love training outside as much as possible and I’m lucky to be surrounded by cool friends who like to be outside too; climbing trees and rocks, swimming, rigging our equipment in rad locations and just having fun being together.

What do you have for breakfast in the morning?

A green smoothie!

What words / motto / advice do you live by?

Create your own magic.

What one or two things do you currently do in your training that are keys to your success?

I do some form of yoga/creative movement flow every day. It helps me focus, find my peace, and stay mobile.

If someone wanted to start learning your craft, how do you recommend they get started? Resources?

I do a lot of different things; circus arts, yoga, parkour, ninja warrior, contact improv, acrobatics, rock climbing, slacklining, and more. I am a circus performer. Circus Arts allows me to combine everything I love and lets me be both athletic and creative. There are circus centers all over the nation where anyone can go to try out different disciplines and see what calls to them. There is something for everyone.

Favorite music / podcasts / shows / games / books?

Bourgeois Mystics, Billy Shields, Gramatik, Cirque Du Solei soundtracks, Thievery Corporation, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Nahko, Rising Appalachia, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Blues and Soul music, Game of Thrones, Settlers of Catan, The Courage to Create, the Alchemist.

Who do you look up to in your profession and why?

I look up to so many people in many different sports. Idol Portal is a big one. I love creative movers. I am especially inspired by people who are incredible athletes, but who also find a way to get creative and do their art a little differently than anyone else. Thinking outside of the box inspires me because in a world that often wants us to conform I think that it’s good to remember that we don’t have to.

What events do you attend (concerts, sporting events, festivals, charity and volunteer work, etc.)?

I attend a lot of events! Acro yoga jams, high lining festivals, arts festivals, Burning Man, American Ninja Warrior competitions and events, parkour jams, aerial meet ups, music festivals, rock climbing meetups etc. I initially came to Austin to work for Habitat for Humanity building homes for people in need and this is a nonprofit that I will always love.
