Jeff McElroy’s surf-noir short story collection, Californios, won the Gold Medal in the 2014 Independent Publisher Awards (IPPYs) for “Best West Coast Fiction.” He adapted his short story from this collection, “Goofyfoot,” for the screen. The short film premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the Newport Beach International Film Festival, and took 1st Place in the Valley Film Festival. He is releasing Californios 2 in November 2015 and continues to work as a freelance writer for the Patagonia Corporation. Jeff lives, writes, surfs, hikes, and bikes in Ventura, CA with his wife and Jack Russell Terrier.

Cormac McCarthy for his authenticity. David Foster Wallace for his sincerity.

Do you create/co-produce your own video content?

I write short story collections and other content that has been made into video/film.

What’s your favorite music?

Highwaymen, Radiohead, M83

Do you belong to any charities or non-profits, do volunteer work?

I do my own beach cleanups and try to get people to join me through social media.
